Good day, mortals! Hopefully you've followed the link from Minstrel Hall, otherwise, GET OUT! You're not wanted here - unless you'd like to serve in the uranium slave pits?...
Getting Started:
All characters start the campaign as normal people, living in a nondescript basement attempting to make a name for themselves. All players are limited to Humans. You live in a small town in the US, so it is quite unlikely that you're an Elf or somesuch. You have no affiliation with any group, unless you'd like me to consider otherwise, and though no formal background is necessary, it'd be nice to get a look into the mind of your character before we get started.
Whats Up?:
The year is 1862, and Lincoln has just served his 8th term in office - with no sign of slowing down. Elections are coming up, and its been said that the key part of President Lincolns next term is what he shall do to deal with the rampant supervillain problem plaguing the South. Captain Metropolis himself has volunteered his services, along with that of the Super League, to Lincoln, and his speech is due to air over the Holonet in the next week. What will Lincoln and his new League do? And what does this mean for the supervillain population over the coming months?
Guess you'll have to play to find out...
Naming:
As previously stated, everyone MUST be human - NO EXCEPTIONS. As-is, the naming process should be quite simple, as your character lives in Middle America in the 1800's.
Character Creation:
This is going to be weird - so bare with me here. Since this is a very RP-centrical campaign, we'll be playing by quite a few altered rules, some of which will be in no ways comparable to normal 4.0 rules.
1: All characters begin as level 2 Human Fighters - max HP.
2: Disregard all fighting skills - we won't be using a normal combat system.
3: You are allowed to train 3 skills of any sort. (IE, nature, dungeoneering, etc)
4: You will start with $100 (or 10 silver, if you wish to keep that system). All gold will be $50 bills, silver will be $10's, and coppers $1. Platinum will be considered $100 bills. Change will be assigned if/when necessary.
5: Leveling will entail gaining your INT mod in skill points to assign to ANY skill, and maximum HP. You will also gain a determined amount of cash.
6: Before level 5, it would be appreciated if you chose a set type of weaponry/combat that you preferred. It will be made apparent through your RP, but if not - it will be assigned to you.
7: Your actions through RP will determine your Fame level. Your Fame will be described in detail later.
Fame:
Fame is your level of notoriety in Xavius' campaign. Your Fame will start out at 0 (Whut), and eventually increase through your actions, good or bad. At any time, you can either request a Fame Update from the DM, or you can state to him your Fame in reference to a NPC interaction. However, the Fame subset - Infamy - cannot be viewed at any time. Infamy is a description of how people view you, from 0 (God-Like) to 10 (Satan Incarnate). Your characters will start out at 5 (True Neutral) and go from there.
Special Stats:
Because of the... Different nature of the campaign, there will be changes in the nature and names of a few skills. The changes are as follows:
Arcana: This will be changed to read "Science." The new Science skill will be used to research production runs, to hack holodesks, and to work with chemicals. Other uses can be inquired about, and will be considered.
Religion: This will be changed to read "Manufacturing." The new Manufacturing skill will be used to produce hard-to-acquire items, and will generally reflect your overall mechanical skill. Other uses can be inquired about, and will be considered.
Dungeoneering: This will be changed to read "Trapping." The new Trapping skill will be used to determine, obviously, your ability to make and disarm traps. It will also determine your skill at skinning, and has a slight factor in a few NPC encounters.
======
In conclusion - no idea here is too insane. No action too lofty. Either say something OOC'ly, or send the DM a tell, and it will be considered. Mechanical spider legs, freeze beams, melta guns, and Dreadnoughts will all be considered, and can all be created in this game. The path you choose to ultimate Fame is completely up to you.
God help us all.
